A closer look at the heart behind Alto Dental

Hello, and welcome to Alto Dental. I’m Dr. Hisham Gharib, and I’m grateful you’re here.

I’ve spent the last 19 years practicing dentistry, teaching dentistry, and continuing to learn how to do it better. My background includes dental school at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, a general practice residency in the United Kingdom, and advanced clinical training in operative, esthetic, and digital dentistry.

Today, I also serve as a clinical assistant professor in restorative dentistry at the University of Illinois Chicago, where I help teach future dentists modern restorative and digital techniques. Teaching has shaped the way I care for patients in a very real way. I believe people deserve to understand what is happening, why it matters, and what their options are before they make decisions about treatment.

Why I became a dentist

My interest in healthcare started early. My father was a pediatrician, and I grew up watching the way he cared for people with patience, skill, and a deep sense of responsibility. I admired that, and I knew I wanted a career where I could help people while also working with my hands.

Dentistry gave me that balance. It combines science, precision, artistry, and trust. Every patient is different, and every treatment plan requires careful thought. That is what continues to make this work meaningful for me.

What makes Alto Dental different

We show you what we see

At Alto Dental, my approach is simple: tell, show, do.

First, I explain what I’m seeing. Then, I show you using X-rays, scans, photographs, or other visuals. From there, I walk you through what treatment could look like, including the benefits, risks, timing, and cost.

My goal is never to pressure patients into treatment. My goal is to give you enough information to make a confident decision.

We also use advanced technology to support that process, including CBCT 3D imaging, digital X-rays, an iTero scanner, 3D printing, same-day crown technology, and a dental microscope. These tools help us diagnose more accurately, plan treatment more carefully, and make your care easier to understand.

A small team with a shared standard

Alto Dental is intentionally close-knit. Our team is small, organized, and focused on creating a calm, comfortable experience from start to finish.

From the front desk to the treatment room, we want patients to feel heard and respected. We take time to answer questions, explain next steps, and make sure you understand your treatment plan before moving forward.

We also know life is busy, which is why we offer online scheduling, evening hours, and Saturday appointments. If you’re in pain, we’ll do our best to see you quickly.

The services we focus on most

Alto Dental is a general dental practice, which means we care for a wide range of needs. That said, we place special focus on preventive care, root canal therapy, same-day crowns, restorative dentistry, Invisalign, and emergency dental care.

Root canal treatment is one area where many local offices refer patients to us. With microscope-assisted care and a careful diagnostic process, we’re able to treat many cases with precision while helping patients feel more comfortable and informed.
